Say, Jane, what are you doing Sunday?
oh, so you want to know why I ask, do
you? Well, I was wondering if a certain
boy might amble down to a certain brick
building and gaze once more upon the fair
features of a certain girl. What I'm trying
to say is, How about a date Sunday?

   Answer in any way.

c.1.3-7  Well, I was ... date Sunday?: The brick building is likely Jane's dormitory at Appalachian State Teachers College (ASTC), where both she and Joe Huffman were students. Jane stayed in the newly constructed Lovill Hall (still standing today). The women students were allowed to have dates visit them at the dormitories on Sunday afternoons between 2 and 4 o'clock (see exhibit b.6, rule #2 under "Sunday").

c.1.9  Joe H.: Joe Huffman, a student in Jane's class at ASTC. See the photo of Jane and Joe on the left.
